Windows Storage Server can only be installed on a computer that has at least 2GB of memory.
Hardware and OS Requirements:
Prerequisites for Windows Storage Server 2003 R2:
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 OS: The Windows Server 2003 must be 64-bit operating system and running on a computer that has the appropriate processor and chipset, and that has two or more gigabyte of memory.
Hardware Drivers: The following pieces of hardware are necessary to install the non-embedded version of Windows Storage Server 2003:
iSCSI Target Device Driver for Windows Server 2003: A SCSI target device driver must be installed for your computer to support the installation of Windows Storage Server 2003.
iSCSI Interface Controller: If your computer does not have an iSCSI interface controller (e.g. an iSCSI network interface chip), then you must use a network adapter that has a SCSI-based interface, such as a SCSI card.
NOTE: If you are installing the Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 on a system that already has Windows Server 2003 installed, then you must only install the following Windows Server 2003 R2 components (i.e., you cannot install the Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 and the Windows Server 2003 R2 operating system):

Issue: The «Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 Hardware Certification Tools» Components update binary files with the update containing «Windows Hardware Certification Tools» component code that cannot be installed on XenServer or Hyper-V.
Solution: The Windows Hardware Certification Tools update binary files are updated with the correct «Windows Hardware Certification Tools» component code to enable the operating system to be installed correctly on a XenServer or Hyper-V.

Creating a Pool:
The WSS 2003 administrative console allows you to create a storage pool to store information that you want to make available to users. The storage pool can be used to store data files such as documents, photos, music, and movies, as well as access files, such as database files or applications. Managing Storage Quotas:
You can manage storage quotas for the current storage pool or you can view statistics for a specified storage pool. Quotas can be allocated by storage type. You can view the data stored in the pool by using WSS 2003.
